I have always had a love for fashion since I can remember. I had to make sure every time I stepped out, my outfit had to be coordinated. Like most of us we have our first career love and mine was in Healthcare. I worked several years in Assisted Living for Seniors after college. My passion is in caring for others in any capacity. I specifically enjoyed making them smile so I started as a Recreational Therapist. This allowed  me to create meaningful activities for enjoyment for the Seniors. As I advanced I became interested in business so I went back to school to pursue my MBA with a minor in Healthcare Management. I had the experience, but wanted to have the knowledge base in business. Like most working individuals I was working in positions, where I was not growing. So that's when I had the idea of starting my own business in 2008.​

I had been working for myself in the Assisted Living industry, which of course demanded a lot of my time. I quickly learned that building relationships in my community and supporting other business owners, especially women, to achieve their goals was my passion. I can remember my first employee who had just graduated with her Certified Nursing Assistant certificate knocking on my door. With no experience I saw the potential and opportunity to help a young woman achieve her goals in Nursing. Today she is a Registered Nurse married with a family. Fast forward fifteen years later  my business helped so many pursue their career while helping our Seniors thrive in the community. Post pandemic I was burnt out and needed change. So, in 2022 I turned the business over to someone else and started a career in Hospice Care 2023. I did that for about a year and realized that I wanted to get out of healthcare altogether. That’s when a light bulb went on in my head to pursue my second love which was fashion. I started exploring the online community of selling my own clothes and accessories to other women in my community in 2024 and it quickly grew. I quickly learned that I could combine my passion for fashion and my relationships to help support women from all over the country to feel confident in their fashion choices.

​With some capital, I was able to transition this passion to an established website and business in 2024. Without funding or assurances of what was ahead, I took the risk and set some realistic goals. With the help of my brother Michael I focused on promoting my sales and social media knowledge to grow my outreach while incorporating my business expertise to structure the operations.

My entrepreneurial journey began at the age of 12, fueled by a passion for technology and sales. I started by designing and distributing flyers in my neighborhood, advertising various services along with their fees. Each day after school, I eagerly checked the answering machine to see what my “business schedule” looked like for the weekend. Washing cars, cleaning roofs, cutting grass, and other tasks proved surprisingly lucrative for a 12-year-old. This early experience laid the foundation for my entrepreneurial career.

As I grew older, I developed a keen interest in information technology during a time when computers, the internet, and networking were transforming industries. Combining my enthusiasm for business and technology, I launched my professional career in sales after college, focusing on software, hardware, and professional services. I joined a company that provided solutions for point-of-sale systems, inventory management, procurement, and warehouse distribution. Driven by determination and ambition, I climbed the corporate ladder and eventually served as Vice President of National Sales. After 13 successful years, the company was sold, and I knew it was time for my next big move.​

This led me to establish a logistics company focused on transporting consumer products across the eastern United States, from Florida to Maine and westward to Texas. Based in Atlanta, my fleet of semi-trucks operated on two- to three-week cycles. Managing this end-to-end operation was challenging but rewarding, as it allowed me to play a crucial role in facilitating product movement. However, the demands of the business began to encroach on my time with my children, prompting me to pursue a new venture.

I then joined a globally recognized technology leader serving the retail, food and drug mass merchandising, hospitality, and convenience fuel sectors. Over six years, I sharpened my expertise before feeling the pull for yet another “big move.” It was time to channel my extensive experience in technology, sales, retail, point-of-sale systems, inventory management, warehousing, supply chain, and distribution into a meaningful new venture.

In 2024, my sister Marlyn and I founded Mandalay and Company, an eCommerce platform dedicated to providing a seamless online shopping experience. Our shared passion for fashion and retail, combined with our backgrounds in building successful businesses, has set the stage for this exciting chapter.
